AECI Mining Explosives Global Supply chain hosted the inaugural Global Logistics Safety Conference on the 11th and 12th October 2018 at Irene Country Lodge, Centurion. The core objective of the conference was to create a platform for our logistics stakeholders to address safety measures that effectively reduce the inherent risks involved in the transportation of blasting products. The theme ‘Road to Zero Harm’ ensured all attendees understood their unique role in our journey to achieving zero harm to anyone ever by 2020 and beyond.
The session comprised over 80 delegates with professions relating to material management, supply chain safety as well as AECI contracted transporters. The wide representation of speakers and delegates from SADC, Central and West African countries, consisting of employees, contracted transport companies and the South African Police Services (SAPS), created an opportunity to share collaborative learnings and best practice for continuous improvement of our logistics operations.
In line with the AECI Zero Harm philosophy, the agenda strategically made emphasis to pertinent topics in transport, distribution and product stewardship of hazard and non- hazardous products with an overall intention of creating awareness of safety risks associated with road distribution.
Denvor Govender, AECI Mining Explosives Executive: Supply Chain, presented a road map of the technological advancements in supply chain, further solidifying our position as a thought leader in the market and proactively shaping the future of the blasting industry.

The conference was recorded as one of the greatest milestones of our Global Supply Chain team, and based on the feedback, the 2019 session will be packed with a wealth of safety insights focused on multimodal logistics.
