AECI Mining Explosives participated in the Institute of Quarrying (IOQ) South Africa’s annual conference and exhibition held at The Elangeni Hotel in Durban from 19-20 April this year.
The Institute of Quarrying is the international professional body for quarrying, surface mining and the related extractive, processing and construction industries with over 6000 members in 50 countries worldwide. The annual IOQ Conference, recognised as South Africa’s premiere quarrying conference, is designed for the professional development of information exchange between industry peers and attracts in excess of 250 visitors from Southern Africa and abroad annually.
In attendance at this year’s conference were our customers, suppliers and competitors such as Lafarge, Afrisam, BME and Yeabo Mining among others.
Furthering our thought leadership position, our Blast Consult team of specialists presented technical papers and case studies at the plenary sessions while our product management team showcased our suite of products and services which form part of our value proposition, intelliBlastTM.
Chairman of the Institute of Quarrying Southern Africa, AECI Mining Explosives' Simon Tose presented a paper entitled Annoying your neighbours (an update on the international trends for managing airblast and blasting vibrations).
This year’s conference programme included other key areas of focus for the industry such as legislation, environment, health, safety and wellness.
